You can delete your FakkaPay account at any time, right in the app. Here’s how, what happens next, and what we have to keep by law.
Before you delete
- Move your money out. We recommend withdrawing your balance to your bank account first, and selling or redeeming any investments you want to turn into cash.
- Keep a copy of your records. If you want one, request a statement in Profile → Statement before you delete.
- Removing the app isn’t enough. Deleting FakkaPay from your phone doesn’t delete your account.
Delete your account in the app
In the app, go to Profile → Security → Delete account:
Open Profile
Tap your picture at the top of any tab.
Go to Security
Tap Security, then Delete account.
Confirm it’s you
Approve with your passcode, Face ID or fingerprint. Your account is closed straight away and you’re signed out.
What happens and when
Straight away
- Your account is closed, you’re signed out on every device, and you can no longer sign in.
- Any open limit orders are cancelled, and money held for them is released.
- Other people can no longer find you or send you money on FakkaPay.
- Any money left in your account is returned to you by our support team.
Afterwards
We keep your personal data only for the period Egyptian law requires (see below). When that period ends, we delete it or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.
You can’t undo a deletion from the app. If you’d like to use FakkaPay again later, contact us.
What we keep and why
Egyptian anti-money-laundering and know-your-customer rules require us to keep identity and transaction records for a period after a customer relationship ends. So after your account is closed, we keep your personal data — including your identity-verification records and the records of your payments and investments — for the period required by Egyptian law.
During that time, your data is stored securely and only authorised staff can access it. We use it only to meet those legal obligations — for example, to answer a lawful request from the authorities — and not for anything else, such as marketing.
Prefer to ask by email?
Email [email protected] from the email address registered on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. Include your full name and the mobile number on your account.
Before we act, we’ll verify that the request really comes from you — for example, by asking you to confirm details of your account. Once verified, we’ll close your account just as the in-app option does and confirm by email. If you no longer use the email address on your account, write to us anyway and tell us; we’ll need to verify your identity another way.
